Lionel Messi stepped up late to score twice for Barcelona and rescue what was an absolutely woeful game played by some of the so called “best players in the world” They call this fixture El Classico, but tonight it was everything but, this reporter would take Bohemians Vs Bray Wanderers any day of the week! It really looks like it will be Manchester United and Barcelona in the final in Wembley despite both sides having a second leg tie to play next week.
As the introduction suggested the game was nothing short of awful. At half time following a punch up in the tunnel, Barcelona’s sub keeper Jose Manuel Pinto was sent off in what was only a pick of ugly exchanges during the game.
But the boy wonder genius Messi stepped up first on 76 minutes and incredibly his 51st goal for Barca this season, he turned home a cross from Affellay from close range, this was a crucial away goal.
Not too long after he did it again, a superb finish from Messi, he picked up the ball inside Reals half and accelerated away from 2 Real players, danced past a couple more, drew Casillas and then finished with a deft flick, it was footballing magic to rescue the game.
More to follow…
