Arsene Hopes Gunners Will Fire From All Cylinders In Last 16

Arsenal will be eyeing up some revenge after they were drawn against catolan giants Barcelona in the last 16 of the Champions League.

Arsene Wenger and Pep Guardiola to cross paths once more

The last time the two met in the competition,  Arsène Wenger’s were on the wrong end of a  6-3 aggregate loss, in the quarter-finals last season, with Lionel Messi scoring four times in the second leg as Barça won 4-1 in Camp Nou.

The Gunners were also beaten 2-1 by the Catalans in the 2006 final in Paris, and have never beaten the Spanish side in a competitive game, although they have scored against them on all five times that they have met in the Champions League.

Wenger had predicted on Thursday that the two sides would be drawn together. “I know who we will get,” the Frenchman joked in a press conference. “At this level, you need connections.”

Arsenal have only won two of their 12 competitive trips to Spain, at Celta Vigo and Real Madrid, losing seven and drawing three.

Arsenal’s north London rivals, Tottenham Hotspur, were also handed a tough draw against the Serie A leaders Milan, the team they defeated in the semi-final of the 1972 Uefa Cup.

Manchester United will take on Marseille of France and Chelsea will meet arguably the weakest side left in the competition, the Danish champions FC Copenhagen.
