It was a very frustrating night for Ireland’s footballers last night. Giovanni Trapattoni’s men under temporary charge of Marco Tardelli slumped to a 1-0 defeat to Argentina in the first international match at the new Aviva Stadium. What looked like a controversial goal scored by Angel Di Maria on 20 minutes was the only thing that separated the sides after the game Sportspeak caught up with Richard Dunne, Paul Green, Cillian Sheridan & John O’Shea and Argentina’s Jonás Gutiérrez & Pablo Zabaleta.
