Bohemians take on Drogheda United in a second home match in three days, aiming in particular to improve on the final pass and on converting goal-chances. Manager Pat Fenlon noted that “the final ball sometimes didn’t work for us” in the scoreless draw against UCD on Friday but that the team created “three good chances”.
Fenlon expects to face a packed defence again and says “we’ve got to be patient”.
“Nobody can fault the players for effort. We need a bit of luck and hopefully that will change for us,” the manager added.
Bohemians will again be without Owen Heary (hamstring) and Steven Gray (Achilles), while Raffaele Cretaro (shin) is doubtful and Gareth McGlynn (suspended) is out.
United boss Alan Mathews has several injury concerns for the trip to Dublin, as Robbie Martin, Damien Brennan, Paul Crowley and Glen Fitzpatrick are all carrying injuries and may be left out of the travelling party.
Bohemians beat Drogheda 4-2 with late goals at Hunky Dorys Park in March and also scored four goals in the teams’ last league encounter at Dalymount Park (4-0, 9 October 2009). A win for Fenlon’s Bohemians would see the Gypsies stay in touch at the top of the table. Kick off 7:45.
