United Hope To Party Like It’s 1999
CATEGORIES: News | POSTED BY: Bob McKenzie | March 19, 2010 at 11:43 amThe first ever Saturday night Champions’ League Final in May could be an all English affair after giants Manchester United & Arsenal were kept apart in the quarter & Semi final draws in Nyon.
United are chasing a third successive final as they face the team they memorably overcame in that gripping final of 1999- Bayern Munich. Arsenal have to negotiate a way past the in form holders Barcelona. Should the gunners shoot down Messi & co they will face Inter Milan or CSKA Moscow while United will face the winner of a first ever all French quarter final as Lyon face Bordeaux.
The draw throws up a lot of sub plots with Thierry Henry, the Thief Of St Denis hoping to get a dodgy handball to help Barca beat Arsene Wenger’s side. United will fancy their chances of a third straight final with Bayern not in the best of form, while Lyon & Bordeaux should be a thrilling local derby. CSKA Moscow are the dangerous unknown after their stunning win over Sevilla and Inter Milan will be wary as they try to lift the trophy for the first time in 45 years.
