Fundamentally, I agree with you... about how wrong and plain ignorant the actions of Martin Johnson and his team were in 2003.

However, an eye for an eye leaves us all blind -and just 'cos Martin Johnson was an ignorant prick (and he most certainly WAS!), doesn't mean anyone else has to stoop to his level.

We're better than that and can rise above such petty tit-for-tat actions - or so I'd have thought. The courteous and gentlemanly thing to do would be to shake the hand of the person you're there to meet.

And Ireland's Call isn't that bad in fairness as anthems go. It's a decent compromise considering that Nothern Ireland, whether we like it or not (and that's a whole different kettle of fish!) IS a different country, where Amhrán na bhFiann isn't the national anthem, and the team represents the whole island. I agree, it would certainly look better if the northern players (what few of them there are) at least would sing it.

Well Niall O'K(Person whom I have never met ;-)) my opinion on that is simple. He was doing what Martin Johnson as England captain did here in 2003... Firstly he diliberatly got his team to line up on the wrong side for the anthems to try and make some sort of point then got his team to stand back from the red carpet away from Mary McElese and didnt shake her hand either and Mary had to walk in the mud of the pitch to greet the English players... So I think O'Gara was right to do it. If it was me I guarantee you I would have kept my hands in my pockets. Why was that such a big issue with Myers... Surely there is more of an issue with players not singing their own anthems... even with the players from Ulster we had to bring in that bollix shit that is Irelands call to make them happy, its even the song they play at away matches and they dont even sing that, considering the song was made for them. They are small little things but Myers targets O'Gara because he dislikes him...god only knows what sort of shite Myers would have wrote had O'Gara missed the drop goal in cardiff...

Grand sure... we've got your opinion on Myers... but what's your opinion of O'Gara not shaking the Queen's hand then, Dan?

He was there to meet her and it would have been more respectful of him to shake her hand in my opinion, rather than standing there like an eejit with his hands in his pockets.

Still love the guy and think he's an incredible rugby player, but it would have made more sense had he shown her the same respect that everyone else who was meeting her on the day showed her.
