Bernard Is Dunne For Good

CATEGORIES: News | POSTED BY: | February 19, 2010 at 3:25 pm

Sportspeak has learned that former world boxing champion Bernard Dunne  is to hang up his gloves. The ex world super bantam champion, who turned out to have a jaw that should have been sponsored by Waterford Crystal, is due to announce his retirement in Dublin at 6 pm. There has been speculation about Bernard’s future since he lost his world title to Poonswat in Dublin last year. Dunne  has said that he just wants to break from the sport to spend more time with his family as he had constantly been away from them due to training commitments.

This will come as a seismic  shock to sports fans in this country who believed that Bernard would one day challenge again for the world title, but it now appears he will walk away from the rope enclosed canvas for a slightly less well paid job as an analyst for future Irish & World champions with RTE & SKY likely to seek his services given his personality.
