Stade Francais prop David Attoub has been banned from rugby for 70 weeks for gouging an opponent in the European Cup match against Ulster. The sanction was imposed by the European Rugby Cup, the organising body of the European Cup, who found the player guilty of the offence on Friday.Club president Max Guazzini said that Attoub would appeal the sanction which would be effective from last December 18 until April 22, 2011.Attoub was cited for gouging Ulster lock Stephen Ferris during a stormy European Cup clash in Belfast on December 12.The initial hearing on December 18 was adjourned until January 15 to allow for more evidence to be gathered after doubts were cast on the veracity of a photograph which showed the incident.
