FAI Make An Arse Of It As Brazil Match Slated For Emirates
CATEGORIES: News | POSTED BY: Bob McKenzie | January 15, 2010 at 12:14 pmSportspeak understands the Republic Of Ireland will face Five time World Champions Brazil on March 2nd at the Emirates Stadium in London. The FAI have been given the game as a bizarre attempt at “moral compensation” following their disgraceful World Cup exit at the hand of the thief of St Denis, Thierry Henry. Sources within the FAI have confirmed to Sportspeak That the French villain’s former club Arsenal will stage the glamour fixture after a company invited Brazil to play Ireland with the FAI receiving a flat fee for the match. If the match had been arranged between the two associations and played at Croke Park there would have been a bigger financial windfall for the under fire cash strapped association. Although the fixture will be welcomed by Irish fans it will cost them a couple of hundred euro to attend given that flights or other travel plus accomodation will all have to be paid for and the tickets won’t be cheap either. The glamour fixture will have a big price tag for fans who will be asking questions as to why a deal couldn’t have been done to play Brazil in Dublin in front of 80.000 at Croke Park- another gripe for fans already fed up with having to travel to other countries for “home” friendlies
