The upsets keep rolling at the Africa Cup of Nations as Gabon held out to beat pre-match favourites and four-time champions Cameroon by 1-0 in this Group D encounter at Lubango in Angola.

The victory is only Gabon’s second ever win over Cameroon in their history, the last coming 20 years ago.

Striker Daniel Cousin netted the Panthers winner in the 17th minute.

The Hull City player calmly slotted home the games only goal after being perfectly setup by Roguy Maye.

Gabon were forced to defend strongly for the remainder of the contest with Achille Emana and an under-par Samuel Eto’o coming close to snatching an equaliser.

However a solid display by Gabon goalkeeper Ovono Ebang ensured Cameroon were kept at bay.

Cameroon were installed as second favourites for the competition behind the Ivory Coast, but all of the nations who have qualified for this Summer’s World Cup finals have as yet failed to win a game in the Nations Cup.

Cameroon face Zambia while Gabon take on Tunisia in the next round of games on Sunday.
