Hughes has been under pressure since the start of the season drawing and loosing a string of games. Mark was in the dug out for this afternoons game against Sunderland, which they won 4-3.
Sportspeak confirmed he had been sacked before this afternoons game so questions remain about why he was there and didn’t just walk away.
Hughes face told the story at the end of the game when he applauded the City fans. Manchester City are to release a statement on their website in the coming hours about why they sacked him. Reports suggest Italian Roberto Mancini who’s last managerial job was with internazionale in 2008 and Bookies have slashed the odds on Mancini becoming the next Man City Boss.
Hughes, who has been in charge of City since the summer of 2008, appears set to become a victim of the heightened expectations at the club under owners the Abu Dhabi United Group. Though City have only lost twice in the Premier League this season, the club lie sixth in the table after recently losing ground in the race for a UEFA Champions League spot.
