Galway United Managerless As Foster Takes Up Manager Role At Dundalk

Tagged Under : , , , , ,

Sportspeak understands Ian Foster has left his role as manager of Galway United to take over at Dundalk.

United CEO Nick Leeson has confirmed that Foster and Dundalk had asked permission to speak to each other, but both parties were refused and so the deal has been done against the wishes of Galway United, with Foster still having a year to run on his contract at Terryland Park.

It is the second time this year that the Connacht club have had their manager walk out on them to join another league of Ireland club, as Jeff Kenna departed in similar circumstances back in January when leaving to take over at St Pats.

The search for a new manager will begin immediately and it seems certain that the appointment will be someone already involved in the club or in the game in Galway.
