Holders Manchester United will face bitter rivals Manchester City in the Carling Cup semi-final.

united, who reached the last four courtesy of a 2-0 win over Tottenham, were drawn against City, who beat Arsenal 3-0 to progress.

The other semi-final sees Aston Villa, 4-2 conquerors of Portsmouth, up against Blackburn after Rovers’ dramatic shoot-out win over Chelsea.

The semis take place over two legs in the weeks commencing 4 and 18 January.
