The Florida Highway Patrol (FHP) told the Orlando Sentinel that 33-year old Woods pulled out of his driveway, struck a fire hydrant, and then drove into a tree at his neighbour’s property at about 2.25am local time.
The Worlds richest sportsman was then taken to Health Central Hospital in Ocoee, Florida, in serious condition, according to the FHP.

PGA star Woods was driving a 2009 Cadillac sport utility vehicle at the time and the crash was said to have not been alcohol-related.
A spokesman added that the incident was still under investigation and charges were pending.
A malfunction with the Cadillac’s airbags happened during the incident outside Woods’ home in Isleworth, Florida, according to the Orlando Sentinel.
Airbags typically do not deploy if a vehicle is travelling at less than 33 miles per hour, it said.
The Orange County Fire Rescue said it received a call about the accident at 2.28am ET (7.28am GMT), but the Florida Highway Patrol did not report it until 2pm ET (7pm GMT).
Orange County property records indicate his home was valued at 2.4 million US dollars (€1.5 million).
