Paris showdown to be broadcast live on RTÉ

RTÉ Sport have  secured the broadcast rights to the Republic of Ireland’s World Cup Qualifying play-off against France on Wednesday.

The match will be broadcast live on RTÉ Two television, RTÉ Radio 1 and streamed live on RTÉ.ie.

Glen Killane, Group Head of Sport, RTÉ said: ‘Following extensive negotiations between RTÉ and the French Football Federation, I’m delighted to announce that a deal has been agreed which will give the Irish public the opportunity to enjoy this crucial game live and free-to-air across all of RTÉ’s platforms.’

Live television coverage of the game will begin at 7.20pm on RTÉ Two, as Bill O’Herlihy is joined by John Giles, Eamon Dunphy and Graeme Souness for pre and post match analysis and debate.

Con Murphy will present live coverage of the game on RTÉ Radio 1 on FM, on LW 252, on digital service RTÉ Radio 1 Extra and online from 7.30pm. Gabriel Egan and Eoin Hand will provide match commentary.

The match will also be streamed live on RTE.ie/live within the Republic of Ireland.

Last Saturday’s first leg with France attracted a peak television audience of over 1.1 million viewers.

An average of 858,000 viewers tuned in to RTÉ Two for the entire match from kick-off to final whistle with the audience peaking during the final minutes of the game.
