O’Leary set to give sleeping giants kiss of life

Sportspeak understands that Newcastle are set to snub Alan Shearer’s pleas and appoint former Leeds United & Aston Villa manager David O’Leary to work alongside his former Irish team mate Chris Hughton as the club bid to make an immediate return to the Premiership.
O’Leary has been out of work since leaving Villa Park and is regarded by Mike Ashley as a steady pair of hands as he bids to sell the club. O’Leary’s track record as a manager is top class after taking Leeds to the semi finals of the Champions’ League and he also had high finishes with the Villains. Sportspeak understands that O’Leary will be offered a one year deal to try and give the kiss of life to a slumbering giant.
