Champions increase lead at top as League Of Ireland reaches halfway point

Bohemians stretched their lead at the top of the Premier Division table to four points as their main rivals Derry City were defeated away to Dundalk.
Bohemians came from behind to defeat bottom side Bray Wanderers at the Carlisle Grounds, Chris Shields put Bray in front before the visitors replied with goals from Gary Deegan, Jason Byrne & Cillian Brennan. Shaun Williams scored the only goal as Dundalk continued their recent good run with victory over Derry City at Oriel Park.
Gary Twigg scored twice as Shamrock Rovers defeated Dublin rivals St. Patrick’s Athletic 2-1 at Inchicore. Cork City kept in touch with the leaders with a 2-0 away win over Galway United. Guntars Silagailis and Faz Kudozovic were Cork’s scorers. Relegation threatened Sligo Rovers and Drogheda United played out an entertaining 2-2 draw at the Showgrounds, with Shane Barrett scoring twice for Drogheda.
In the First Division league leaders Shelbourne hammered Mervue United 7-0 at Tolka Park.David McAllister and David McGill each scored twice for Shels. UCD and Waterford United also recorded wins to keep in touch. Chris Mulhall scored a late winner for UCD away to Kildare County while Waterford defeated Longford Town 3-1at Flancare Park. Sporting Fingal remain fourth despite a 3-2 defeat away to Finn Harps in Ballybofey. Wexford Youths continued their impressive season with a single goal victory over Athlone Town at Ferrycarrig Park.
