It’s 71 years & still counting as Murray tumbles at penultimate hurdle but Federer makes a magnificent seventh succesive Wimbledon final

The Scot was bidding to become the first british man to make the decider since Bunny austin in 1938. Roddick’s serve was the difference between the two in the four set battle. The match went with serve for the first set until the tenth game when the American finally broke the Briton to take the opening set 6-4. Murray broke straight back in the next game and the set stayed with serve as Murray acheived parity the third and fourth sets were a war of attrition as Roddick edged in front again on a tiebreak. The fourth set was dominated by the American as he led 5-2 before Murray recovered to take the set to a tiebreak The American held his nerve as Murray became the seventh Briton to fall in a semi final since Austin made the decider 71 years ago.
Roger Federer breezed past Tommy Haas to make his seventh successive Wimbledon final.
