All American Girls to contest Ladies Final at Wimbledon on US Independence Day

defending champion Venus who is chasing a sixth Ladies’ Plate destroyed the World number 1 Darina Safina with an almost flawless performace of power & poise to win 6-1, 6-0. he Russian, sister of former US Open champion and former men’s number 1 Marat Safin had a nightmare as she failed to match the American who was simply different class. It was the quickest womens’ semi final for 40 years.
The other semi final was an absolute classic becoming the longest Women’s semi final on Centre Court at 2 hours and 49 minutes.
Serena Williams and Elena Dementiava had an epic battle with the Russian winning the opening set on a tiebreak. Williams hit back to take the second 7-5 before a classic third set which saw the two hold their serves until serena Williams finally broke the Russian in the 13th game of the decider. Serena held her serve to triumph 8-6.
The Mens semi finals sees Briton Andy Murray facing Andy Roddick as he tries to win his first semi final at Wimbledon. the Briton is aiming to be the first home winner since Fred Perry in 1936.
Five time champion Roger Federer faces the German Tommy Haas as he tries to reach his seventh final.
