CHELSEA 1 (Drogba 21, Lampard 71)  EVERTON 1 (Saha 1)

Louis Saha scored the quickest ever goal in an FA Cup final as he gave Everton the lead at Wembley after a stunning 25 seconds. Chelsea failed to clear a cross the tall Belgian Fellani nodded the ball across and the former Manchester United centre forward thrashed the ball past Petr Cech on the volley to stun the overwhelming pre match favourites.

The losing Champions League semi finalists equalised through Didier Drogba as the Ivorian scored his sixth goal in cup finals for Chelsea. Nicola Anelka flipped the ball wide left to Florent Malouda who’s cross was bullet headed in by Drogba after 21 minutes.

Just before the hour Chelsea almost took the lead when Frank Lampard Jnr’s clever scooped pass was almost lobbed over Tim Howard by the Premiership’s 2009 Golden Boot Nicola Anelka. Everton then went close through their reciord breaking goalscorer Saha when he headed over after 66 minutes. Drogba then went close from a Malouda cross as the match went into the last 20 minutes. A minute later Lampard gave Chelsea the lead, Phil Neville blocked the initial right footed shot then the midfielder reshaped and smashed it across Tim Howard with his left to put the favourites in front. Malouda almost sealed victory in the 75th minute after good work down the left by Ashley Cole but he skied the ball into row Z.

In the 77th minute Malouda went much closer as his flashing shot hit the underside of the bar and off the Everton goal line. Replays showed that the thirty yard rasper had crossed the line and it should have been 3-1 and the result should have been settled. In the final minute Tim Cahill unleashed a long range effort which flashed 2 feet wide.  In injury time Drogba Lampard and Anelka combined and the Frenchman overhit his lob.

The final whistle went and John Terry became only the second Englishman to skipper 3 FA Cup winning sides.
